Dell PowerEdge 2650

ServerWorks GCLE Chipset

The PowerEdge 2650 utilizes the GC-LE chipset for system memory, I/O and processor interfacing. The GC-LE is designed to support the latest available technology, including Intel's next generation 32-bit processor family, new DDR Memory technology and the advanced PCI-X system I/O bus. The chipset uses three chips to deliver a balanced architecture that provides new levels of performance scalability in the Industry Standard Dual Processor Server market. The three chipsets are listed below:

  1. The Champion Memory & I/O Controller (CMIC-LE) provides a high-speed interface between the main system memory, processor and system I/O bus.
  2. The Champion Southbridge (CSB5) operates as the PCI to LPC address / data bridge.
  3. The I/O Bridge (CIOBX2) is an integrated I/O bridge for the IMB and PCI-X I/O subsystem.
