Operating Systems

The PowerEdge 2650 supports the factory installation of the following Operating Systems:

NT4 Server
Windows 2000 Server
Windows 2000 Advanced Server
Red Hat Linux 7.1
Red Hat Linux 7.2

The PowerEdge 2650 has been tested and validated for NetWare 5.1 and NetWare 6.0, although factory installation will not be an option (other than through DellPlus).

The following Operating systems are not supported or certified by Dell: Netware 4.2, Solaris x86 UNIX, SCO UNIX, and UNIXware.

Dell OpenManage Server Assistant (OMSA)

The PowerEdge 2650 will ship with Dell OpenManage Server Assistant (DSA) CD version 7.0.2. In the future, the system will ship with version 7.1.

IMPORTANT - More Information NOTE: To use the Dell OpenManage Server Assistant CD, a system must have at least 128 MB of RAM. For systems with 64 MB of RAM, the operating system drivers contained on the CD can be accessed by creating a set of diskettes on another system that has at least 128 MB of RAM and is running Microsoft Windows NT or 2000.

System Management CD

The PowerEdge 2650 will ship with version 3.0.2 of the System Management CD. In the future, the system will ship with version 3.1.

Array Manager

The PowerEdge 2650 will ship with version 3.1.2 of the Array Manager. In the future, the system will ship with version 3.1.3.

Resource Configuration Utility

There is no RCU for the PowerEdge 2650. Various PnP configuration settings are available in the BIOS Setup menu.

Dell Diagnostics

Dell Diagnostics will be provided on the CD that is shipped with the system and can be accessed through the Utility Partition when installed.
