Operating Systems

As of this writing, the PowerEdge 6650 can be ordered with any of the following operating systems factory installed (check with your sales representative for current information or for the availability of other operating systems):

Windows 2000 Server
Windows 2000 Advanced Server
Red Hat Linux 7.3
Red Hat Linux Advanced Server 2.1

The PowerEdge 6650 has been tested and validated for other operating systems which are not offered for factory installation. These include Windows NT 4.0, some versions of Novell NetWare, and some versions of Caldera OpenServer or Open UNIX (formerly SCO Unix). Check with your sales representative for current information about validations on other operating systems. Some of these operating systems may be available through Dell's Custom Factory Integration.

Utilities and Applications

Dell Server Assistant (DSA)

The PowerEdge 6650 currently ships with Dell Server Assistant (DSA) CD version 7.0.2.

NOTE: To use the Dell Server Assistant CD, the system must have at least 128 MB of RAM. For systems with 64 MB of RAM, operating system drivers contained on the CD can be accessed by creating a set of diskettes using another system with at least 128 MB of RAM and running Microsoft Windows NT or 2000.

System Management CD

The PowerEdge 6650 currently ships with version 3.0.2 of the System Management CD. This release adds support for the PowerEdge 6600 and the PowerEdge 6650.

Array Manager

The PowerEdge 6650 currently ships with version 3.1.2 of Dell Open Manage Array Manager. This release adds support for the PowerEdge 1650, the PowerEdge 4600, the PowerEdge 6600 and the Poweredge 6650.

Resource Configuration Utility

There is no RCU for the PowerEdge 6650. Various PnP configuration settings are available in the BIOS Setup menu.

Dell Diagnostics

Dell Diagnostics is provided on the CD-ROM that is shipped with the system and can be accessed through the Utility Partition when installed.
