PERC

PERC 3/Si/Di

The PERC 2, PERC 2/Si, and PERC 3/Si/Di BIOS is very different than the PERC 3/DCLlite/DC/QC BIOS. Most PERC function can be manipulated in the BIOS. Containers or virtual disks can also be configured in the BIOS. As the card is initialized, the following message will be displayed.

This image shows the message displayed when the PERC 3/Si/Di cards are initialized

NOTE Note: The sever may appear to be stalled as the PERC is initializing, but it is scanning all channels. Each device it finds will be initialized.

The keystroke CTRL+A is used to enter the PERC BIOS for ROMB-based PERC cards. The BIOS screen may not immediately appear after pressing CTRL+A. The PERC must fully initialize before the BIOS screen will be displayed.

Adaptec Array Controller Utility

The PERC 2, PERC 2/SI, and PERC 3/Si/Di management menu contains configurable options for the PERC. The bottom of the screen has navigation instructions.

Options Menu
  Option   Description

Container Configuration Utility   Select this option to create, manage, and delete containers.

SCSISelect Utility   The SCSISelect Utility allows you to change SCSI device and controller settings without opening the server chassis or handling the card.

Disk Utilities   The Disk Utilities allow you to low-level format or verify the disk media of your SCSI hard disk drives.
Container Configuration Utility
The Container Configuration Utility submenu allows you to create, delete, and manage containers or virtual disks. Containers serve the same purpose as virtual disks. A container must be configured in order for the operating system to recognize any hard disks.   This image displays the Adaptec BIOS Main Menu

Without a container created, the operating system will fail to recognize a hard disk and the installation will fail.
CCU Menu
  Option   Description

Manage Container   Select this option to view container information, delete containers, and arrange container boot priority.

Create Container   Select this option to create additional containers.

Initialize Drives   Select this option to initialize a physical drive.
