PowerEdge Utility Partition & Utilities

The utility partition is a bootable partition on the hard disk drive that contains programs that may be used to perform maintenance tasks on a PowerEdge server. The partition is factory installed on PowerEdge servers. It may also be created using the DSA CD if necessary.

Upon completion of this module, you will be able to:

  • Identify the programs found on the PowerEdge Utility partition.

  • Identify the correct procedure for booting to the utility partition.

  • Identify the purpose of the Resource Configuration Utility and the procedure for using it.

  • Identify the correct procedures for using Dell Diagnostics to identify hardware issues.

  • Describe the correct procedure for using the Dell Asset Tag Utility to assign an asset tag to a PowerEdge server.
