PowerEdge Chassis and Rack Designs

The components described in the previous section must be housed in a chassis to perform as a server. This section of the course will provide an overview of current PowerEdge chassis designs. Upon completion of this module, participants will be able to:

  • Define the difference between rack-mount and tower chassis types.

  • Define what a "U" is in relation to a server chassis.

  • Identify the features of Dell's currently available rack mounting solutions.

  • Identify the features of the PowerEdge 2500 server in both rack-mount and tower configurations.

  • Identify the features of the PowerEdge 4400/6400 server chassis in both rack-mount and tower configurations.

  • Identify the features of the PowerEdge 4600 server chassis in both rack-mount and tower configurations.

  • Identify the features of the PowerEdge 2550 2U rack-mount chassis.
