Dell PowerEdge 1650

Rack-Mounting the PowerEdge 1650

The following procedure outlines the process for rack mounting the PowerEdge 1650.

 Rack Mounting Instructions

Before rack mounting the PowerEdge 1650, remove the front bezel.


Step 1: Push the front slide assembly mounting hook into the square hole on the vertical rail.

Step 2: Push down on the front slide assembly until the push button pops out and clicks.

Step 3: Push the back slide assembly mounting hook into the square hole on the vertical rail.

Step 4: Push down on the back slide assembly until the push button pops out and clicks.

Step 5: Pull the front slide assemblies out until they click.

Step 6: Lower the system into the slide assemblies, back shoulder screws first.

Step 7: Lower the front shoulder screws into the system release latch.

Step 8: Press the slide release latch and slide the system into the rack.

Step 9: Install the front system bezel.

Step 10: Insert the front locking thumbscrew into the square hole and rotate clockwise.

 Installing Cable Management Hardware

Step 1: Install the outer tab into the latch on the end of the slide assembly.

NOTE: MORE INFORMATION! NOTE: The cable management arm can be installed on the right or left-side of the rack cabinet.

Step 2: Install the inner tab into the latch on the inner segment of the slide assembly.

Step 3: Install the stop block in the latch on the end of the opposite slide assembly.

Step 4: Connect the status indicator cable into the top connection next to the ERA networking port.

Step 5: Connect the power cords to the power cord receptacles and then bend them back beside the power receptacle housing. Next, install the strain-relief tie-wrap loosely around the looped power cords.

Step 6: Route all cables and power cords through the cable management arm.
