Bezel
The front bezel is not necessary for the system to function, but provides additional security when locked. Access to system peripherals and the control panel requires removal of the bezel. To remove the bezel:

 Removing the Bezel
Step 1: Unlock the front bezel by rotating the key in the key lock until the key lock is vertical.

Active ID
The Dell badge found on the PowerEdge 4600 also functions as a diagnostic LED. When the bezel is in place on the system and the system is powered on, the Dell badge will be in one of the following states:

This is a picture of the PowerEdge 4600 front bezel lighting blue The Dell logo lights blue when the system is operating correctly.

This is a picture of the PowerEdge 4600 front bezel lighting amber The caution icon lights amber when the system needs attention.

An amber caution light indicates the need for attention to one or more of the following subsystems:

  • System power
  • Cooling (fan failure/system temperature)
  • Hard-disk storage
  • PCI bus/expansion cards

When the amber caution light is on, you should remove the system bezel and attempt to isolate and resolve the problem.

For systems being used without the bezel, such as those used in a rack, an LED on the back of the system provides the same functionality as the bezel indicators.
