Dell PowerEdge 4600

Rack Mounting

Rack Kit
Rack installation components such as rails and ears are provided with the PowerEdge 4600 Rack Kit. This option may be factory-installed at the time of system purchase, or ordered at a later date as a customer-installed field upgrade. No shelf is required with the rails attached, which allow the system to slide easily in and out of a Dell rack.
Racking Instructions

The following procedure outlines the process for rack mounting the PowerEdge 4600.

 Rack mounting the PowerEdge 4600
Step 1: At the front of the rack cabinet, position one of the slide assemblies so that its mounting-bracket flange fits between the marks or tape you placed on the rack.

Step 8: Using at least two people and the handles on each side of the chassis, lift the system into position. Tilt the front of the system upward while aligning the back shoulder screws on the sides of the system with the back slots on the slide assemblies.

Engage the back shoulder screws in the slot just behind the back (green) latch first, followed by the middle shoulder screw in the slot near the middle (yellow) latch, and then the front shoulder screw in the front slot.
