Rack Advisor

Dell's Rack Advisor utility allows you to plan a rack setup by comparing the rack's available space against the amount of space required for desired components. The Rack Advisor may also be used to determine if a rack configuration provides adequate airflow and power input for all components.

The Rack Advisor uses a graphical interface that is very simple to use. Simply drag the desired components into the selected rack to test the validity of a rack configuration.

Guidelines
W A R N I N G!   The following guidelines should be followed when installing components in a rack. Failure to do so may result in personal injury and/or damage to hardware.

  • Stabilize the rack before adding components.

  • Build the rack from the bottom up.

  • Install PDUs (Power Distribution Units) and power strips before installing servers and storage components.

  • Loosen preassembled slide assembling mounting screws to allow for the best possible fit.

  • Tighten preassembled slide assembly mounting screws after installing components.

  • If possible, remove the rack's sides. The allows for easier access to components.

  • Connect cables to components only after the component has been mounted.

  • Attach and route data cables before connecting power cables.

  • If possible, route power cables away from data cables.
