More PowerEdge 6400 MB Features
The following list explains the labels on the above photograph, starting at "ROSB4" and moving clockwise around the image.
  • ROSB4 is an IDE controller that is used for the CD-ROM drive on the system. The IDE controller is routed through the 50-pin SCSI connector on the system board.

  • Super I/O is the chipset that controls the basic input and output functions for the system (including serial and parallel ports).

  • BIOS is the CMOS chip that stores the system BIOS.

  • ESM2 is used for system management functions.

  • RAGE II C is the integrated ATI video controller used on the PowerEdge 6400.

  • 7899 is the integrated Adaptec Dual-Channel Ultra 160 SCSI controller found on the PowerEdge 6400.

  • NIC is an integrated network interface card; in the case of the PowerEdge 6400 it is an Intel 82559 (Pro 100+).
