AMI PERC BIOS

The current PERCs based on technology from AMI are all PCI cards, and all PERC3s (PERC3/QC, PERC3/DC, and PERC3/DC Lite).

NOTE:   The PERC 3/Di is the only integrated PERC currently available, and also the only PERC 3 NOT based on AMI technology.

Entering the BIOS on AMI based PERCs

During the POST sequence, the following information will be displayed when an AMI-based RAID controller is detected by a PowerEdge server:

PowerEdge Expandable RAID Controller BIOS #.## DATE
    Copyright(c)AMERICAN MEGATRENDS INC.
Press <Ctrl> <M> to Run Configuration Utility
Or press <Ctrl> <H> for WebBIOS

Pressing <Ctrl> <M> at this point will start the Setup Utility on the PERC, allowing changes to the controller configuration and also array setup.

NOTE:   Using Dell Array Manager provides a graphical interface for RAID setup and is the recommended method. Details of using Array Manager are included in the section of this course titled "Dell Server Assistant."

The controller will begin to initialize and spin up the hard drives. Once the drives are up, the following information will be displayed:

HA -0 (Bus 4 Dev 0)PERC 3/QC, DC or DC Lite Standard FW #.## DRAM=##MB
Battery module is present on adapter *
    # Logical Drives found on the Host Adapter
    # Logical Drive(s) handled by BIOS

    * Will not appear on a system equipped with the PERC3/DC Lite, as it does not incorporate a battery backup for the cache
