Backplane Daughtercards
The image below shows the optional daughtercard required to split the backplane on a PowerEdge 2500. Plugging the card in to a special socket on the backplane will enable the backplane to be split into different SCSI channels.

PowerEdge 2500 with Installed Daughtercard

The image below shows a PowerEdge 2500 server with the daughtercard installed. Once the daughtercard is installed, any hard drives installed in the bottom drive bay will be on a different SCSI channel than hard drives installed in the top drive bay.
