PowerEdge 7150 Chassis (continued)

Front View with Bezel Removed

Once the bezel is removed, the following system features are visible on the PowerEdge 7150:

PE 7150 Front Components

System components that reside under the bezel:

  • Up to 4 hot swappable SCSI hard drives may be installed in the system bay. The backplane that connects to the hard drives defaults to a 1 x 4 configuration, but may be split to 2 x 2 if the secondary SCSI channel is connected to the second connector on the backplane.

  • The PowerEdge 7150 has bays for 4 hot swappable power supplies in an N + 1 configuration. Three are required to power a fully configured system properly; one is for redundancy.

  • The CD-ROM drive is IDE so it does not take up resources from the SCSI controller.

  • Control Panel Indicators and the system LCD provide information on the system's status.

  • The LS-120 replaces a standard floppy drive on the PowerEdge 7150. LS-120 drives may read and write to standard floppies or to 120 MB "super floppies." The PowerEdge 7150 needs the capacity of the LS-120 drive for BIOS flashes as they are too large to fit on a standard floppy.

NOTE:   The backplane on the 7150 may be split without installing a daughtercard. It will detect when a SCSI controller is connected to the secondary channel and split automatically.
