Manage Containers

When Manage Containers is selected from the Main Menu in the Adaptec PERC Setup Program, a screen will appear listing all containers (drive arrays) present on the controller.

The following actions may be performed on a selected container:

  • Pressing <Enter> will list the the properties of the highlighted array and the physical drives connected to the array.

  • The <Delete> option will delete the selected logical container (drive array).

  • <Ctrl> <B> is used to change the boot order of all arrays.

  • <Ctrl> <S> is used for management of spare drives.

  • <Ctrl> <R> will restore a RAID 5 array from a compromised state after a failed hard drive has been replaced, or allow enabling of RAID 5 if an additional drive has been added to an array.

Detailed information on RAID arrays is beyond the scope of this course. Dell offers a Storage certification course that provides much more detail on RAID theory and application.
