Create Container

The Create Container submenu may be used for creation of a new drive array if physical drives are initialized and available for use. All available drives are listed and may be selected with the <Insert> key.

Once the drive(s) are selected that will be in the container, a screen appears that allows configuration of the properties of the array:

  • Container Type allows the user to select the RAID level for the array.

  • Container Label is used to name the drive array.

  • Container Size specifies the size (in MB or GB) of the array.

  • Chunk Size may be modified if a different cluster size is chosen for the array.

  • Read Caching and Write Caching may be turned On or Off as required.

  • Create RAID 5 via is used to select the method used for RAID 5 array creation. Options are scrub and clear. Scrub is the recommended method as it is faster in most situations.
